Imagine Lismore community survey underway
Sunday, June 10 2012
Lismore City Council has kicked off a 14-month community-wide consultation where we are inviting you, the residents of our Local Government Area (LGA), to share your views about what you would like for your community, your quality of life, your family, your employment or business opportunities, your facilities, your environment and your ability to have your say about future decisions for your place.
The aim is to develop a community designed and owned plan that will inform decisions about our future for the next 10 years – the ‘Imagine Lismore’ Community Strategic Plan 2013 - 2023.
General Manager Gary Murphy said that as part of the consultation process Council is now conducting a four-week community-wide survey so that everyone in the community has the opportunity to provide their feedback.
“This survey is about identifying the future this community wants, which is why we have designed three simple questions where we are asking what it is you love and value most about Lismore, what is important for your quality of life and also what you would like Lismore to be like in the future,” Mr Murphy said.
“We are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved so that we get the best possible understanding of the values and aspirations of our community, so if you hear about, please let your friends and family know about it too.
“What is interesting about developing a community-owned plan is that many communities face similar challenges however it is the unique response that each community comes up with that shapes the future of that place.
“That is why Council staff along with many other community organisations and leaders are looking forward to hearing what this community wants its future to look like.”
The survey period has now closed.
